Throughout the year we as a staff have Professional Learning Fridays (PLFs) because we are lifelong learners who strive to improve our own understanding and knowledge as professionals when doing what's best for kids.
At Fort McMurray Christian School we have three goals throughout our school year that we focus on to improve student experience and outcome:
- Christian Education
- Literacy
- Social Emotional Learning
In order to encourage our student’s full potential we need to be lifelong learners. Keeping up to date with the latest research is essential in this process. Our PLFs are collaborative and bring us together, build relationships, and develop high quality instruction for our students.
Multiple reseach studies demonstrate that teacher effectiveness as a result of these opportunities for collaboration with colleagues (inside the school, across the division, and throughout the province) is the single biggest factor in determining student learning.
Here is what we are doing in the 2024-25 school year during our PLFs:
