Fort McMurray Christian School Society

In 1993, Fort McMurray Christian School was formed as an Independent Christian School in Alberta. In order to do this, the school was required to have a governing body to make decisions on how the school was run. This is the Fort McMurray Christian School Society.

Even though we are now a Public Alternative School within Fort McMurray Public School Division, we still have a School Society which helps make decisions about Christian Programming at the school. They are in charge of supporting the "B"s

Bible - Helping support Christian Education at the school

Bussing - Helping organize transportation to the school

Budget - Deciding on the cost of Society Fees and how best to support the school with those fees.

The School Society is a great way for parents to support the school and make impactful decisions to create a wonderful, faith-filled, learning environment.

Division Notice

ATA Strike Commencing on Monday; School Closures Starting Oct 6th

As a result of the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) rejecting a proposed deal from the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), all FMPSD schools will be closed to students starting Monday, October 6, 2025, unless a new agreement is reached or strike action is otherwise averted. Additionally, all yellow school bus routes will be suspended for the duration of the strike.

In light of the ongoing strike, all extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, and after-school programs, will be temporarily suspended.

As there is no definitive end date for the strike, FMPSD is unable to provide a timeline for when normal operations will resume. We will continue to provide timely updates as we receive them from the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
