PEAK Volleyball Academy

Boys and Girls City Volleyball Champions

Since 2017, Fort McMurray Christian School has been running a PEAK Volleyball Academy for elementary students in grades 4-6 and because of its popularity, we included a 7-9 group the following year.

In 2024-25 we are once again happy to offer the program to students in grade 5 all the way up to grade 9. Please call the office for registration information.

This program gives students the opportunity to focus on improving their volleyball talents before the school day with our coach Mrs. Lisa Vroom, while also becoming well-rounded athletes by doing various other sports activities throughout the year as well. Students are also expected to be focused on not only sports but also self-improvement and academic learning through goal setting and structured development plans.

This year's tuition costs are $350 for the entire year and can be paid through Parent Portal.

A message from Coach Vroom:

I am Lisa Vroom, the new/returning PEAK coach. I know that as the year progresses you may have some questions or concerns regarding PEAK, so I wanted to reach out and let you know some details as well as how to get a hold of me.

A little background on myself, I am the original PEAK coach, I started the FMCS chapter of PEAK back in 2017 and I ran the program until 2022 when I resigned to take on new challenges. I have had two kids graduate from FMCS and currently have a son in grade 6.  My full time job is with the Christian Labour Association of Canada (CLAC), where I am employed as a Field (Union) Representative. I have a long history of playing and coaching volleyball and I am excited to be back at FMCS, I have missed spending time at the school with the students and staff.

The 2024 PEAK season began , Oct. 2, and is running from 7-8 AM Mondays and Wednesdays.

Division Notice

ATA Strike Commencing on Monday; School Closures Starting Oct 6th

As a result of the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) rejecting a proposed deal from the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), all FMPSD schools will be closed to students starting Monday, October 6, 2025, unless a new agreement is reached or strike action is otherwise averted. Additionally, all yellow school bus routes will be suspended for the duration of the strike.

In light of the ongoing strike, all extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, and after-school programs, will be temporarily suspended.

As there is no definitive end date for the strike, FMPSD is unable to provide a timeline for when normal operations will resume. We will continue to provide timely updates as we receive them from the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
