2025-2026 FMCS Education Plan

Our 2025–26 Education Plan: Rooted in Purpose

Our Education Plan for the 2025–26 school year is the cornerstone of student success and school improvement at Fort McMurray Christian School. At its heart, this plan ensures that every student has access to equitable, Christ-centred learning opportunities—supporting the development of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and character needed to become self-reliant, responsible, caring, and contributing citizens.

Guided by Alberta Education’s vision and the Fort McMurray Public School Division’s commitment to student success, our plan focuses intentionally on two key priorities this year:

  • Christian Education: We are deepening our integration of Christian worldview throughout the curriculum, helping students understand their identity as image-bearers of God and encouraging them to live out their faith with purpose and compassion.

  • Literacy Improvement: Grounded in research and responsive instruction, our literacy goals aim to strengthen foundational reading and writing skills across all grade levels—empowering students to communicate effectively, think critically, and engage meaningfully with the world around them.

This plan is more than a document—it’s a shared commitment. Through collaborative planning, purposeful teaching, data-informed reflection, and strong community partnerships, we are shaping a learning environment where every student is known, loved, and equipped to thrive.

Professional Learning Fridays 2025–26: Equipping Teachers, Transforming Classrooms

Professional Learning Fridays 2025–26: Equipping Teachers, Transforming Classrooms

At Fort McMurray Christian School, we believe that when teachers grow, students thrive. Our Professional Learning Friday (PLF) Plan for 2025–26 is a vital expression of our commitment to educational excellence and spiritual formation. Rooted in our school’s Education Plan, PLFs provide structured time for our staff to collaborate, reflect, and refine their practice—so that our students receive the very best in both academic and Christian education.

This year, our PLF goals focus on two key areas:

  • Literacy Improvement: We aim to reduce our literacy at-risk rates through the Science of Reading and structured literacy practices. Teachers collaborate by analyzing student work, refining instruction, and using research-backed strategies to ensure all students become confident readers and writers. A Literacy Lead works closely with division coordinators to guide coaching, resource use, and student intervention.

  • Christian Education: We are deepening our approach to biblical integration using the Teaching for Transformation (TfT) framework. Beyond basic integration, we are exploring worldview formation through classroom culture, daily routines, and immersive learning. Newer teachers will focus on core TfT practices such as Deep Hope, Storyline, Throughlines, and FLEx, while veteran teachers will study themes from Beyond Biblical Integration, exploring how every aspect of teaching shapes the heart and mind of the learner.

Each PLF also includes a focus on mental health and student resilience, drawing on Let Grow resources and current research to foster independence, courage, and wellness in our classrooms.

Through guided collaboration, reflection on student work, and faith-infused professional growth, our PLF structure builds a vibrant, purposeful learning culture.
