Partners in Education FMCS Winners and Nominees

The Fort McMurray Public School Division (FMPSD) hosted its eighth annual Partners in Education event last night, which celebrated and honoured the invaluable contributions of over 100 distinguished partners in enhancing the quality of education offered in the Division. This prestigious event was a memorable night of gratitude, appreciation, and recognition of the dedicated support and generosity of supporters, donors, volunteers, and community partners.

The FMPSD greatly values all its partners’ contributions and recognises their pivotal role in ensuring the Division’s daily success. The partnership between the students, staff, Board of Trustees, Parent(s)/Guardian(s), and the broader community helps to create a positive and thriving environment in the Division, promoting academic excellence, visual and performing arts, athletics, and a host of other extracurricular activities.

A significant highlight of the evening was the presentation of well-deserved awards and commendations to the partners for their outstanding contributions to improving education in the Division. FMPSD expresses its gratitude and appreciation to each and every partner who has contributed to the enhancement of educational programming and acknowledges that it would not have been possible to achieve the level of success experienced without their support, dedication, and commitment.

FMPSD remains committed to providing the best possible educational experience for students, and the Division’s partners are instrumental in helping to achieve this goal. Year after year, the Partners in Education event signals a renewed commitment to continued collaboration, growth, and success, and we look forward to achieving even more significant milestones together with our partners.

Congratulations to our very own for their nominations and awards:

Volunteer Instructor Partner of the Year - Mrs. Katie Williams

School Council Member Partner of the Year - Mrs. Christine Gogolinski

A Special thank you to Milano's Pizza who were nominated in the Business category who continues to be a strong supporter of our school!

Division Notice

ATA Strike Commencing on Monday; School Closures Starting Oct 6th

As a result of the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) rejecting a proposed deal from the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), all FMPSD schools will be closed to students starting Monday, October 6, 2025, unless a new agreement is reached or strike action is otherwise averted. Additionally, all yellow school bus routes will be suspended for the duration of the strike.

In light of the ongoing strike, all extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, and after-school programs, will be temporarily suspended.

As there is no definitive end date for the strike, FMPSD is unable to provide a timeline for when normal operations will resume. We will continue to provide timely updates as we receive them from the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
