Grade 9 Farewell – A Night to Remember

Last Friday, we had the joy and honour of celebrating our Grade 9 Farewell, a meaningful milestone in the lives of our students as they prepare to spread their wings and step into high school. This evening was more than a celebration; it was a reminder of the faith, friendship, and formation that have shaped our students throughout their time at Fort McMurray Christian School.

A heartfelt thank you to our special guests: Dulcie Hunt from YWAM and Chair Linda Mywaart from the FMPSD Board of Trustees for offering words of blessing and encouragement to our grade 9s.

We are also incredibly grateful to our Foods class, who prepared a truly phenomenal spread under the expert leadership of Mrs. Russell. Your hard work and hospitality helped make the evening even more special for our students and their families.

To our Grade 9 students; we are so proud of you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made, and we can’t wait to see how God will continue to use your lives to shine His light wherever you go.

Division Notice

ATA Strike Commencing on Monday; School Closures Starting Oct 6th

As a result of the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) rejecting a proposed deal from the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), all FMPSD schools will be closed to students starting Monday, October 6, 2025, unless a new agreement is reached or strike action is otherwise averted. Additionally, all yellow school bus routes will be suspended for the duration of the strike.

In light of the ongoing strike, all extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, and after-school programs, will be temporarily suspended.

As there is no definitive end date for the strike, FMPSD is unable to provide a timeline for when normal operations will resume. We will continue to provide timely updates as we receive them from the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
