Vincella Thompson Award Winner - Ellen Polegato!

Over the lunch hour we had the opportunity to present our Science 7 and Phys. Ed. teacher Mrs. Ellen Polegato with the Vincella Thompson Award. Below is the picture and the write up that we did together as a staff during Tuesday's staff meeting.

Thank you, Ellen, for all that you do for our students in making them feel welcomed, included, and supported!

Ellen Polegato exemplifies a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all students at Fort McMurray Christian School and Timberlea Public School. Her dedication to equal opportunities and inclusive programs is awesome, evident particularly in her leadership of the MultiSports programs, where students from both schools converge daily throughout the year. Ellen goes beyond merely organizing activities; she actively cultivates leadership opportunities for junior high students, empowering them to take charge of the activities.

In addition to her involvement in sports, Ellen's impact extends to the academic realm. She spearheads the after-school plant sciences club, providing students with a nurturing space where they can socialize, converse, and delve into the wonders of God's creation. Acting as a facilitator, Ellen equips her students with the tools and resources they need to explore and succeed.
As a basketball coach, Ellen embodies the values of inclusivity and encouragement. Regardless of their current skill level, she advocates for every student's participation in the sport, emphasizing attitude and willingness to learn above all else. Her approach ensures that every student feels valued and empowered on the court. Not only in plant sciences and coaching she helps kids "grow".

In her teaching practices, Ellen's genuine concern for her students shines through. She goes above and beyond to support their academic growth, offering extra learning opportunities outside regular school hours. Her teaching methods prioritize inclusivity, with a focus on accommodating diverse learning needs and backgrounds. Whether it's through innovative approaches to assessment or personalized content delivery, Ellen ensures that every child has the opportunity to thrive in her classroom.

What truly sets Ellen apart is her non-judgmental demeanor and authentic care for those around her. Whether interacting with students or colleagues, she fosters a culture of respect and acceptance, where everyone feels valued and heard. Ellen's unwavering dedication to her students' success and well-being makes her a cherished asset to the educational community.
