Grade 9 Farewell Photos

We had a wonderful time celebrating a wonderful group of grade nines who are moving on to high school next year.

Our Farewell holds immense significance for the grade nines bidding farewell to Fort McMurray Christian School and embarking on their journey into high school. This milestone not only commemorates the completion of their middle school education but also symbolizes a profound transition into a new chapter of their lives. Graduation serves as a moment of reflection, celebration, and anticipation, as these young individuals prepare to face the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. As they received their Bibles as a symbol of their time coming to an end here at FMCS, they carry with them the lessons learned, friendships forged, and values instilled within the nurturing walls of their Christian education.  Jeremiah 29:11 tells us: "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Graduation marks the beginning of that future, filled with God's purpose and guidance, as these students embark on their high school journey.

We are excited what lies ahead for our students and remind them that they are always welcome to come back and 'lean into their friends and community here.'

PS:

There may be a few extra pictures of the food too because the JH Foods Program did such an amazing job preparing it!

Thank you to everyone that made the evening a success!

Division Notice

ATA Strike Commencing on Monday; School Closures Starting Oct 6th

As a result of the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) rejecting a proposed deal from the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), all FMPSD schools will be closed to students starting Monday, October 6, 2025, unless a new agreement is reached or strike action is otherwise averted. Additionally, all yellow school bus routes will be suspended for the duration of the strike.

In light of the ongoing strike, all extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, and after-school programs, will be temporarily suspended.

As there is no definitive end date for the strike, FMPSD is unable to provide a timeline for when normal operations will resume. We will continue to provide timely updates as we receive them from the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
