Legacy Water Foundation

boy with pile of cans and bottles for recycle in bags

Once again the Grade 2s are continuing their support for the Legacy Water Foundation! :)

While learning all about other countries in the world, Mrs. Jackman takes a bit of time to explore the issue that water brings, especially to developing nations. From these conversations learning about kids in other countries having to carry water for long distances over many hours, students realize that they should do something to help and their annual classroom project begins!

Through multiple fundraisers over the year, students raise money in order to help repair broken and damaged wells in areas in great need of fresh, clean water. Students will do chores, collect bottles, and even complete a long walk around the school grounds, while carry water bottles, trying to put themselves in the shoes of kids who need to walk for hours in order to get clean water.

Division Notice

ATA Strike Commencing on Monday; School Closures Starting Oct 6th

As a result of the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) rejecting a proposed deal from the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), all FMPSD schools will be closed to students starting Monday, October 6, 2025, unless a new agreement is reached or strike action is otherwise averted. Additionally, all yellow school bus routes will be suspended for the duration of the strike.

In light of the ongoing strike, all extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, and after-school programs, will be temporarily suspended.

As there is no definitive end date for the strike, FMPSD is unable to provide a timeline for when normal operations will resume. We will continue to provide timely updates as we receive them from the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
