Grade 6 Teacher

Hello my name is Gayle Neil and this is my third year teaching at the Fort McMurray Christian School. I have been teaching for fifteen years. I am truly honored and blessed to be teaching and sharing my faith with our wonderful community at FMCS.  My teaching experience ranges from the very littles in ECDP, all the way up to college level courses. I started my career in Lac la Biche, teaching high school. I am originally from Windsor, Ontario, but have called Fort McMurray home for twelve years. I have truly found my joy teaching and it is an honour to be part of your student’s lives. I absolutely love being my student's cheerleader! I will cheer them on to accomplish amazing things in learning and in extracurriculars. Let me know when they have an event, like a big sports game or dance recital. I always try my best to show up, just be prepared for loud cheering from Mrs. Neil! I believe all students have the RIGHT to learn in a safe and caring environment. As your student's teacher my job is to keep them safe and help them learn.

Division Notice

ATA Strike Commencing on Monday; School Closures Starting Oct 6th

As a result of the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) rejecting a proposed deal from the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), all FMPSD schools will be closed to students starting Monday, October 6, 2025, unless a new agreement is reached or strike action is otherwise averted. Additionally, all yellow school bus routes will be suspended for the duration of the strike.

In light of the ongoing strike, all extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, and after-school programs, will be temporarily suspended.

As there is no definitive end date for the strike, FMPSD is unable to provide a timeline for when normal operations will resume. We will continue to provide timely updates as we receive them from the Ministry of Education and Child Care.
