Hello! My name is Heather Joy Freake and I am excited to be teaching Kindergarten again this year at Fort McMurray Christian School!  I am originally from Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and received my Bachelor of Education at Memorial University.  My journey as an educator has been both diverse and fulfilling.  It has taken me overseas to North Africa and South Korea then back to Canada, teaching in British Columbia and Alberta.  Throughout my teaching career I have taught students ranging from preschoolers to adults and have had the opportunity to work as a Learning Assistance Coordinator as well as a classroom teacher in various grades.

My husband and I have been calling Fort McMurray home since 2005 and have been attending the Family Christian Centre since we arrived 18 years ago.  I enjoy being a part of the Music Ministry there as well as co-leading a weekly Bible Study with my husband.

During my leisure time I enjoy going for walks, card-making, reading, baking, and visiting with friends over coffee! I also love to travel and experience new cultures.

I am looking forward to a rewarding year filled with fun and enthusiasm as I teach Kindergarten.  My desire is to instil a love of learning in each of my students but most importantly to nurture a desire within them to know our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
