Mrs. Heather Joy Freake
Hello! My name is Heather Joy Freake. I am originally from Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and have been calling Fort McMurray home since 2005. I received my Bachelor of Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland and I am currently working towards my Masters of Education in Inclusionary Practices through Crandall University. My journey as an educator has been both diverse and fulfilling. It has taken me overseas to North Africa and South Korea then back to Canada, teaching in British Columbia and Alberta. During my leisure time I enjoy going for walks, reading, and visiting with friends over coffee. I also love to travel and experience new cultures.
This year at FMCS I have the privilege of serving in various capacities which include kindergarten teacher, Christian Education Coordinator and Learning Assistance Coordinator (Early Learning). In addition, I will be providing support to English Language Learners.
I believe that Christian Education plays a significant role in our students’ lives as they grow academically, emotionally and spiritually. I also believe that the strongest foundation for Christian Education is built on the partnership between home, school and church. We are in this together! My hope is that our students become firmly rooted in who they are in Christ and learn to love Him with all their “heart, soul, mind and strength” (Mark 12:30-31).
