Where do the program fees go?
Program fees are used for a variety of things. Firstly, only instructional grants are available to FMCS as an alternative program of Fort McMurray Public School District. Capital or infrastructure grants are not available to FM Christian School. FM Christian School continues to be responsible to supply space or buildings for their students, and for all expenses related to the Christain aspect of our program. Secondly, the Society has decided that they wish to limit the number of students in each classroom so that each student receives more of the teacher’s attention. This is an instructional cost we have chosen for our students. Thirdly, to maintain a Christian vision of education, specific professional development and resources are required. FMCS believes this is a necessary financial expenditure.
How is this school different from the Public or Catholic schools?
In many schools, the religious curriculum is an “add-on” to the secular curriculum. In our school, the Christian perspective can be found in every classroom, and throughout our curriculum. We use Through Line terminology and Teaching for Transformation unit plans to help promote a Christian worldview in every class.
We strive to create an environment based on Christian values and we feel it is an essential part of a child’s education.
What if I want to send my children but can’t afford the program fees?
If you are unable to meet your financial obligations but would like to send your child/children, please contact the school for more information.
